Velas is a very small village located near Kelshi in Taluka Mandangad. It is situated near Bankot. Population of Velas is around 1000. Due to the sea-shore and beautiful beach; Velas is one of the existing places in Konkan.Velas is also a birth place of Late Nana Phadanvis who was one of the prominent personalities in Maratha History. A statue of Nana Phadanvis is present outside his house.
Mahalakshmi temple, Shri Bhairi Rameshwar temple and Nana Phadanvis house are the places to visit in Velas. Gokulashtami Festival is one of the important festival in village. Himmatgad at Bankot, Kelshi, Harihareshwar are few other attractions nearby.
